We are currently looking for a Product Manager. The selected candidate will work with a team of exceptional engineers, designers, and business experts to improve and build products that impact students and teachers around the world. You will have the resources, autonomy, and support to own and drive product initiatives focused on customer data analytics.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Work closely with the Head of Product to define the product strategy based on business objectives, competitive landscape and resource constraints
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources (stakeholders and customers), reconcile conflicts, decompose high level information into details and abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding
  • Distinguish user request from true needs
  • Identify and deeply understand our customers through research, data analysis, user experience analysis and testing, competitive research, surveys, and other tools.
  • Lead product ideation, signoff on design mockups, drive product development with a team of engineers and designers
  • Become the hub between all the stakeholders. Work cross-functionally to keep stakeholders engaged and informed.
  • Provide direct project management leadership
  • Translate product strategy into detailed requirements
  • Work with UI/UX and visual designers to create preliminary design concepts and work with development to implement and iterate. Ensure we release high quality designs by testing and validating new features thoroughly
  • Be on top of the latest product enterprise trends and integrations
  • Manage the product backlog through continuous prioritization
  • Work with Product Engineering Team to do weekly scrum planning

  • Internal: Engineering, DevOps, UX Designers, Product Management, Service (Customer Support), Marketing, Sales, Academic Team, Executive Team
  • External: Customers (students, teachers and enterprise admins)
  • External: 3rd party partners and developers

Required Skills & Experience 
Strong technical and product expertise – the ability to dig deep, analyze business problems and drive market-changing solutions.

  • Track record of success in fast-paced entrepreneurial organizations.
  • Collaborative approaches to drive effective solutions.
  • Experience with roadmap prioritization in an Agile environment (scrum, sprints)
  • Data-driven and analytical. Innate problem solver. Proactive in finding problems AND arriving at a variety of creative solutions.
  • Strong influencing skills – able to manage without authority and to influence those who are not direct reports across all levels of the organization internal and external to Open Education
  • User-focused instincts for product design and development
  • Innovative problem-solver who can find ambiguous problems and turn them into clear solutions.
  • Proven leader who can drive results in collaborative, cross-functional environments with little instruction or oversight.
  • Clear communicator (both written and oral) comfortable in front of all team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with large quantities of information and to deliver data driven solutions
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a senior product manager in consumer technology companies. Educational product management experience highly preferred
  • Resource and team management experience
  • Knowledge of education and/or education technology, highly desired
  • Demonstrated success defining and launching game-changing products
  • Experience with Pragmatic Marketing/Product Management or other product management tools and methodologies highly preferred (e.g. Aha, Prodpad, etc.)
  • Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Fully Bi-lingual: English-Spanish

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (Computer Science, Technology, Engineering or Math)
  • Technical expertise around analytical tools, methodologies and design, and build vs buy tradeoffs
