About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on Technical Team Lead with strong Agile delivery and project management skills to lead a team responsible for transforming a monolithic web application into a modern microservices-based architecture.
This is a hybrid role that combines Senior Full Stack Engineering with Scrum Master responsibilities — ideal for a leader who can guide modernization efforts while mentoring team members and contributing high-quality code.
The team’s mission is to evolve a legacy platform into a scalable, cloud-ready enterprise SaaS application for the higher education sector. You will play a key role in breaking down complex, tightly coupled systems and enabling a modular, maintainable future.
Key Responsibilities
- Champion Agile methodologies and lead Scrum ceremonies to ensure iterative, high-quality delivery.
- Track and communicate team velocity, cycle time, risks, and blockers to stakeholders.
- Coordinate cross-team dependencies and manage delivery risks.
- Ensure engineering excellence through:
- Code reviews
- Continuous Integration support
- Test automation
- Enforcement of development standards
- Collaborate with Architects, Tech Leads, and Engineering Managers to align technical strategy and execution.
- Contribute high-quality code as a Senior Full Stack Developer.
- Design scalable backend services and reusable UI components.
- Develop integrations with external platforms.
- Partner with DevOps teams to improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
- Lead incident response and troubleshoot complex issues across legacy and modern systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong Full Stack expertise in:
- Java
- Spring Boot
- RESTful APIs
- JPA / Hibernate
- React (or other JavaScript frameworks)
- 2+ years of experience leading Agile development teams, including Scrum Master responsibilities.
- Proven experience transforming or refactoring legacy / monolithic systems into microservices or service-oriented architectures.
- Solid understanding of:
- Agile practices
- DevOps pipelines
- CI/CD
- Delivery metrics
- Experience working in cloud environments (preferably AWS).
- Knowledge of relational databases.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
